Is Model-driven (Software) Engineering really Engineering?? - May 2010
Is software engineering really engineering? I revisit this vexed question in the context of the emerging concept of "model-driven engineering" (sometimes referred to as "Model-driven development"). I outline the concept of model-driven (software) engineering; give several examples from my own research group's work; and discuss strengths and weaknesses of the approach. I use this approach to compare and contrast MDE for software engineering to other, more established engineering disciplines.

A talk in the SERG (Software Engineering Research Group) series at the University of Auckland mid 2008. Followed from some very interesting interviews I did for the ME(SE) review. The questions @ start proved to be interesting challenge to some of us :-). Was quite an interactive talk so doesn't come across quite so well in the very static slides - sorry!
