Aren't You Surprised to See Me?

This episode was filmed in Dallas in Dec. 1961, and aired Feb. 16, 1962. It starred David Wayne as a religious fanatic and serial killer who goes from city to city kidnapping an individual and killing them if the city fails to observe the Ten Commandments for one whole day. Naturally, the city fails to be sinless, and the victim chosen is dispatched with a mysterious substance unknown to the forensic science of the day. The killer assumes the identity of his last victim as he moves on.

Tod and Buz are working in a retail store at the Trade Mart in Dallas when Buz is kidnapped at gunpoint and made to drive around Dallas. The killer’s actual name is “Caine”, an apparent reference to the biblical story in which a wrathful Cain “rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him”.
