I am a senior high math teacher with the goal to instill in my students the desire to question, think, ponder and wonder about ALL things surrounding them - not just in my classroom. My second hope is that I teach my students the value and skill of critical thinking. I hope my students learn how to analyze a situation and come up with alternate methods of solution, and eventually find the optimum course of action. In addition I want my students to grow in self confidence and come to realize that with determined effort most goals in life are achievable.I was born and raised in Minnesota, have lived in ten countries, and traveled to over 80. My husband is British (we met in Kuwait before any of the Gulf Wars), and our children were born in Oman. It makes me happy to hear from former students who are now traveling, living or working literally all over the world. Perhaps some of the things we discussed in my class tweaked their curiosity and encouraged them to view the world with an open mind and open heart, and go experience it for themselves. The world is an exciting and dynamic place. I am blessed to have the opportunity to make a positive impact on my students life and encourage them to see, learn about, and appreciate other cultures.
After spending 13 years living abroad, I returned to the United States and taught at Benilde - St. Margaret's School, the premier Catholic college-preparatory school in the Twin Cities of Minnesota for 18 years. I loved being part of a community that offers a challenging curriculum in a uniquely caring environment. It energized me to work with students to help them develop a strong foundation for a successful future.
Most recently, I have returned to teaching overseas, and currently call The Netherlands home. I am teaching and coaching at the American School of The Hague (ASH) after spending two years at the Shanghai American School (SAS). ASH is home to 1200+ students from 74 countries. SAS is China's largest international school with more than 3000 students from 40+ countries. I am blessed beyond measure to have the opportunity to work with an inspiring variety of people who continue to inspire a lifelong passion for learning, a commitment to act with integrity and compassion, and the courage to live their dreams. I am proud to be a lifelong learner, and am excited by learning and using new things; I am fulfilling many dreams by returning overseas to live and teach.
