Conference Champions 1981

Head Coach Phil Reynolds is the only coach in school history to have the pleasure of two different coaching stints with the school.  A graduate of California State University where he played football, he has played an instrumental role in the history of Thomas Jefferson football.  He is a respected teacher and member of the community, and always had the best interest of the student athlete at heart.

As an assistant coach under Bap Manzini, Reynolds was a driving force to the 1980 WPIAL championship team.  The following year he replaced a legendary figure in Manzini, which is not the easiest of tasks, and guided the Jaguars right back to the playoffs for only the third time in the last ten years.  After two unsuccessful campaigns Coach Reynolds resigned, but only to surface as a vital cog to Jim Render's Upper Saint Clair coaching staff where they won numerous WPIAL AAAA championships.

Reynolds returned to Thomas Jefferson in 1994 to follow another legendary coach in Jack Garrity, but the team was slow to fully grasp the new offensive and defensive schemes finishing at 2-8.  Coach Reynolds then stepped down from the head coaching position, but was and will be a major contributor to the success of the football program and school.
