Hello! Welcome to the online home of Jackswood Smallholding.
We are a smallholding based in Newchurch, Isle of Wight.
Since the purchase of the land in 2008 we have come to a balance of breeding utility birds, raising and breeding other animals and growing veg to be a self sufficient as possible in today's modern world.
Our chosen breed is the Barnevelder, we also breed bourbon red turkeys and coturnix quail
All of our lines are aimed at the 'old fashioned' style of bird, the heavy utility type good for both laying and the table. Our breeding stock have been sourced personally and from far and wide. We do sometimes have surplus POL hens to sell, but generally breed for our own replacements at present.
We sell our own free range eggs from our flocks of hens, turkeys and quail.
PLEASE NOTE. ALL THE PICTURES ON THIS WEBSITE ARE OF OUR OWN STOCK.
Surplus veg from is sold outside our front door and we did well in the early years, The following years have proved just as successful.
Each year we intend to grow!! (Jackswood I mean).
We build all of our animal housing and have found that the chicken arks we have built are far superior than any that we have purchased, and of course we use as much reclaimed material as we can.
We hope you enjoy our website, why not find out more about us, or get in touch.
