Membership
There are three classes of Members of the Society: Active Members, Affiliate Members, and Student Members. Only Active Members are entitled to vote and have full rights. The membership is international in scope, and there is no limit to the number of Members in any class of membership.
Active Members
An applicant for membership as an Active Member in the Society must be a Ph.D., M.D., or D.O., with substantial interest in the advancement of clinical MEG.
Applicants have to file a membership application form (download here) and appropriate documentation of eligibility and qualifications to the Membership Committee.
The Membership Committee considers all applications for membership in the Society and makes a preliminary recommendation which is discussed with the Executive Committee at an ISACM meeting. The Executive Committee votes on each applicant's admission. An affirmative vote by a simple majority constitutes approval of membership.
Final acceptance and continuation as an Active Member is contingent on payment of dues for the following year (currently 50$/year). The amount and payment deadlines are determined by the Executive Committee, and are subject to majority approval by the Members. Currently, memberships are collected biannually, i.e. currently for 2020 and 2021.
Affiliate Members
Affiliate Members are individuals who are
(a) Allied Healthcare Professionals (nurses, physicians' assistants, etc.)
(b) technicians or technologists actively involved in the collection and/or analysis of MEG data, or
(c) non-MD/PhD persons associated with for-profit companies that develop or manufacture equipment or software for the collection, analysis, or interpretation of MEG data.
As is the case for Active Members, membership applications will be reviewed and voted upon in the manner described above. Affiliate Members pay dues and may serve on committees but may not vote or hold office. The amount of dues for Affiliate Members are determined by the Executive Committee.
Student Members
Student Members may be medical, graduate, or undergraduate students at any US or international University or College. As is the case for Active Members, membership applications will be reviewed and voted upon in the manner described above. Student Members pay dues [at a reduced rate]. Student Members may not vote or hold offrce. At the discretion of a committee chair, a student member may be asked to serve on a committee. The amount of dues for Student Members are determined by the Executive Committee.
