Please see the attached flyer with information on a new "Volunteer Program" which would benefit OUR IRHS Seniors!!!  What better way to
show your I.R. PRIDE than to give back.....and we would LOVE to see some alumni members contributing!  This program helps students in their college application process and making college a reality.  Here is the request from Michele Murphy:

Ruth Ann - I wanted to share the attached flyer with you as the district is launching a new College Mentor program at both IRHS & SCHS and we are currently looking for volunteers to come back & work with our college-bound senior students & their families to navigate through the college application and admissions process.  Who better to serve in that role, but our own alumni who have successfully made the transition out of high school!?  Training is provided so no previous experience is necessary!

Please let me know if you would be willing to share this information with the association - we would welcome their participation!  Feel free to contact me if you need further information.  Our district website also lists the other new college planning initiatives we are introducing this year! 

Thanks for your help and for the great job you are doing with keeping the IR spirit alive for all graduates!

Google Group email!

Our new Google Group email is up and running!  NOTE:  If you did NOT receive an email from us today (10/14) then you are NOT registered with the IRHS Alumni Association!  This is important...there are many receiving our information through Facebook by "Liking" our page...but that does NOT register you to join our group.  It only takes a minute...and requires only your address, phone, email and IR PRIDE!!!  You do NOT have to be a can join as an "Associate Member" as a "Friend of the Indians"!  PLEASE take the time to do this for us...and SPREAD THE WORD!

*Note...there has been a slight delay in the transition to our new email (Google Group) so I am continuing to use this "old fashion way"!  You will get a "Welcome Email" when you have been added to the "group email". 

Wow....I really shouldn't wait so long to send out our emails!  There's so much going on!

1) First of all, SAVE THE DATE!  Saturday, November 2nd we will be having our "2nd Annual Meet & Greet" at The Cove @ Bayside!  What a great place...and we enjoyed it so much last year that we decided to duplicate the experience...$10 pp includes some great food, non-alcoholic beverages and LOTS of FUN!  Cash bar available at Happy Hour prices!  The event will be 4-6pm!  Please RSVP at for an accurate count!

2) REUNIONS:  We have updated our website to promote all Class Reunions we have information for....please check them out!  Be sure to pass any information to us to promote for you on your upcoming reunions!!!

3)  HOMECOMING / ALUMNI NIGHT:  Mark the don't want to miss it!  Friday, October 11th....home football game!  Come out and see some fellow IR the festivities and remember the "good 'ole days"!!!  We will have a table set up with a little "give-a-way" so be sure to stop by to say HI!  We now also have IRHS ALUMNI stickers...for car windows, tool boxes, clip boards, etc!  Be sure to get yours at the games (just asking for a small donation...whatever you can give!)  We want to see them proudly displayed!!!

4) We have confirmed that our next BIG SPRING EVENT will be on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the Frankford Banquet Hall!  This will be your next opportunity to bid on YOUR IRHS ALUMNI LICENSE PLATE!!!  SAVE THE DATE!!!  Details coming...

5)  One of our BIG projects for this upcoming year is the purchase and construction of a SCHOOL SIGN!  Did you realize that we still do not have a sign in front of our school after 8 years?  We are working on it...and would WELCOME contributions...financially as well as masonry and electrical work needed!  Please contact us if you would like to support this effort!

6)  As always, we are trying to expand our MEMBERSHIP....and encourage you to please pass our information on to others!  No membership fees....and you don't even have to be an IR graduate to join...just IR PRIDE!  Parents, staff (past & present) and community members are welcome....join as a "Friend of the Indians"!  Please ask them to sign up at our website:

We've GROWN....and needed to update our email account to "Google Groups"!  Our email address will stay the same ( but this will allow us to send our mass emails in one draft!  You will receive a welcome message shortly...this is NOT please do NOT delete our messages!

Please be sure everyone has signed up for our group...and NOT just a "like" on our Facebook page! This is important...and if you are not sure, please sign up again at

We had a great meeting on 8/19...16 in attendance to start our planning for next year!  We are already working on our BIG EVENT for next Spring....where YOU can bid on your IR LICENSE PLATES!  We set up our Alumni table at the IRHS Open House....and at our first HOME FOOTBALL GAME last Friday.  We plan to be at each home game...and hope to have car window "clings" to show your IR ALUMNI PRIDE!  Please be looking for them and help us out by displaying them on your vehicle!

We hope to have our 1st Annual Alumni Weekend this fall in Ocean City (details coming)....and excited to continue working on getting our school an ENTRANCE SIGN!!!

We will, of course, continue our IRHS Hall of Fame and Scholarship awards as long as fundraising is successful!

Reunions seem to be popping be sure we have your information to help promote your event!

Mark your calendars for HOMECOMING at IRHS....Friday, 10/11!  You don't want to miss that!

Just a reminder of our monthly meeting....tomorrow night (Monday, June 10th) at 6pm at the IRHS Library!  This is a SPECIAL meeting....and as usual, ALL are welcome to attend!

We will have our newest IRHS HALL OF FAME member attending, 1st Sgt. Terry Handy!  This will be your chance to meet and talk with him!  (I will bring a nice cake to share with everyone to CELEBRATE with him!  Isn't that a good reason to attend?)

We also may have the opportunity to meet our 3 recipients of the first ever IRHSAA Scholarships that we were able to award this year!  (Kristin Kneller, Rebecca Webb and Kaya White....each receiving $1,000 each!)  They will be stopping by for a "photo op" for us!  Congratulations again to the winners....and thank you to all who applied!

Hope to see many of you there tomorrow night....please stop by if you can to congratulate 1st Sgt. Handy and our scholarship winners!

Well, it's been a while since our last update, but we have so much exciting news!

First of all, I want to congratulate our NEW OFFICERS elected at our 5/13 meeting!

PRESIDENT:            Marla Banks Daisey
VICE-PRESIDENT:  Joy Vogel Cadden
SECRETARY:           Laura Walter
TREASURER:          Kim Tribbitt Roe

They will take over as of July 1st!  Congratulations to all....and a big "Thank You" to Matt Revel for serving in the Treasurer position this past year.  Although I am stepping down as President this year, I still plan to be very involved and will continue in the "PR" position to keep you informed. 

We also had a new HALL OF FAME member inducted last week....
First Sergeant Terry Handy (IRHS Class of 1984)
was inducted as our newest member.  We hope to have articles in our local papers highlighting the accomplishments of First Sergeant Handy and why he was chosen as our newest member.  Congratulations!!!

We would like to thank Paula Goodman for chairing the selection committee this year.  We had some outstanding nominations and I know it was a very hard decision to make as they were ALL very deserving candidates.  Thanks to the ones who took the time to submit the applications as well!

We would also like to thank the Scholarship Committee for their time in the selection of our 3 Senior students each receiving $1,000 towards their college expenses.  The IRHSAA was honored to be able to increase this first year's awards to $1,000 each due to the generous support of all at our "Beef & Brew Fundraiser"!  The "winners" will be announced at Graduation THIS WEDNESDAY (5/29)!  Good luck to all who applied!

The IRHAAA LICENSE PLATES were a BIG hit!  A reminder that we need the completed DMV forms returned to Mitch Rogers IMMEDIATELY to submit our first order for the plates.  Many have inquired about purchasing one now...but the decision has been made to only allow "bids" at our BIG fundraiser each year!  This means that you may not have the opportunity to bid again until next be sure to NOT miss out again!  You will soon see some PROUD IR GRADS sporting these tags around town!!!  Be sure to let them know you have IR PRIDE too!  Thanks to all who supported this!

THIS Friday, 5/31, the Ocean City Ravens Roost 44 will be holding their annual Golf Tournament at the Ocean Pines Country Club.  The Ravens Roost 44 have supported IRHS with multiple scholarships to our students over the past years...and will  give $4,400 to our school in scholarships this year alone!  Please consider supporting their fundraising event!  You can get more information on the event at .  So glad to have their support for our school!

We have been told that there are some "FAKE" IRHS Alumni websites out there....some are asking for annual dues....WHICH WE HAVE NEVER ASKED FOR!!!   Please know that these sites have NOTHING to do with us or IRHS!  They are just set up as a scam to take your money!  They LOOK like IRHS Alumni....but ARE NOT!!!  Please do what you can to spread the word and keep others from sending them money!  We have only asked for support through our fundraisers this past year and will do our best to use our funds directly to support IRHS and it's students!  *NOTE:  I do know that there is a new IRHS FFA ALUMNI group and IRHS BAND ALUMNI group that IS associated with our school!  These are the only legitimate alumni groups that I am aware of!

There are multiple class reunions being planned for this year!  Please have your committee chairman contact us with the information to help spread the word!  Also, please consider supporting any "alumni owned/managed" businesses in your event planning!  Another good measure for our group....NETWORKING!  Let us know if you think YOUR business would be a good venue or offer services that might interest a reunion planning committee!

Our next monthly meeting will be Monday, June 10th!  As always, all are welcome....6pm in the IRHS Library!

Thank you to all who attended or contributed to our "Beef & Brew" on Saturday night.   It's impossible to thank all who should be acknowledged.  We had a great turnout with lots of IR PRIDE in the room!  Figures are still being tallied...but looks like we will finally have some funds to be able to fulfill some of our goals for this year!  Again, thanks to all who came out, enjoyed the meal prepared by those wonderful "Tribbitt Sisters" and submitted bids on those auction items and spectacular IRHS ALUMNI LICENSE PLATES!  That bidding was exciting to watch!

So be sure to keep you eyes open in a couple months for those plates to be "sported" around town!

Fellow Indians:

Again, we have so much going on and so little time....but it's all GOOD!  So glad to have alumni that know the importance of getting this group "off the ground"!  BUT WE DO NEED YOU!!!  The success of the group is dependent on the participation of YOU....whether it's attending our events ,helping to spread the word to get new members or printing and posting our flyers in the community or at work!  It all helps!

IRHS ALUMNI LICENSE PLATES!!!  You only have 12 days to get your sealed bid to Mitch Rogers (sealed bids for #11-9999 due by 4/6)!  Be one of the first to "sport" your new IR Alumni tag!  Tag #1-10 will be "live auctioned" at our "Beef & Brew Event" on 4/13!  This should be FUN...and hopefully a nice "moneymaker" for the IRHSAA!  How much are YOU willing to pay for that special number???  Remember, you can place the tag on the back of your vehicle (instead of your DMV tag) or on the front of your vehicle ALONG with your current tag!  NO ADDTIONAL ANNUAL FEES!!!  Contact us with any questions....but get those bids in NOW! (Bidding forms on our website!)

1st ANNUAL "BEEF & BREW"!!! (4/13) 
We are in need of additional "Sponsors" (get your business advertised) to help with expenses of the event and AUCTION ITEMS!  Personal OR business donations of ANY value welcomed!   If you are NOT able to attend, maybe send in an auction item!  We'd LOVE a donation from each about putting a basket together from a few classmates with a "creative theme"?  Please contact Nancy Hickman ('75) at with your donations!  Tickets are on sale NOW....and are LIMITED!  Remember pre-sale tickets ($30) will be sold until 4/8 ($35 after that or at the door IF AVAILABLE)!  We need a "head count" for food planning!

  Officer nominations need to be submitted prior to our 4/8 meeting.  Voting will take place at the May meeting!  Please consider "stepping up" and taking a position....what can YOU give the IRHSAA???

IRHS HALL OF FAME!!!  Have you submitted a nomination for a deserving IRHS Hall of Fame inductee?  There are MANY out there....but we need YOU to take the time to submit their application.....must be received by 4/19! (Applications on our website!)

SIGN UP!!!  If you are receiving THIS email, you are currently "signed up"!  We are finding quite a few interested alumni that are NOT on our official list...some were "lost" during the changeover from our original online registration to our current one and some think that because they "liked" us on Facebook and see our info they have signed up (which they may NOT have) if you talk with anyone and they are unsure, PLEASE ASK THEM TO SIGN UP AGAIN!  We can remove duplicates if needed....but really need everyone to sign up to give us your contact information.  This will be so important in the future.  Sign up at our website:

To our IRHS Alumni & Friends,

Well, we've done it!  We are really "up and running" with so much going on right now!  Our group continues to grow (Love seeing the new names each day) and that is because of YOU....please keep spreading the word!

Our BIG event is, of course, our 1st Annual "Beef & Brew" on 4/13!  Tickets ARE LIMITED so be sure to get your tickets now....need to purchase in advance!  This will be your FIRST opportunity to bid on the new IRHS LICENSE PLATES!  Be sure to be there to get your bid in on those low numbers (live auction only for numbers 1-10)!  You can also bid by sealed bid for numbers 11- 9999!  This will be a great way to show YOUR school pride and help our organization raise funds to give back to our school/community!  This has a "one time fee" (no additional annual fees), can display this plate along with your current plate or alone, and you may be able to pass this down to your GRANDCHILDREN!  Think about graduation gifts too!

We are also accepting nominations for a possible IRHS Hall of Fame inductee!  If you know someone that you feel would be deserving, PLEASE submit their nomination!  We know there are some very deserving IRHS graduates out there but you must submit their nomination to be considered!  Applications must be submitted by 4/19/13!

SCHOLARSHIP(s) will be offered this year!  Applications are being processed now and will be available very soon in our school guidance office AND online on our website!  Be sure all IRHS Seniors are aware of our scholarships....which promises to be a "little different"!  We are looking for those "unique" students that make us proud!

....AND FOR FUN....the IRHS Softball Boosters are having an "Alumni" day on 4/20....3 to ALL IR grads whether you played on a team or not!  This should be FUN to see (for those of us who can NOT play) and fun for the players!  Please contact Chris Megee at IRHS to sign up now!  Let's support them by participating or coming out to watch the FUN!  (Flyer sent out yesterday in email!)
