1990 Team Leader for development of packet switching (X.25) projects for GPT PABX
Background
As recognition of my development as a software engineer, I was given the role of team leader for a packet switching project on the GPT PABX (iSDX).
Challenge
There were various packet switching projects that required leadership of small teams of developers. I had to understand the projects, provide systems design documents, and allocate work to software engineers. I had to manage all fault finding activities and provide “patches” as necessary
Actions
I reviewed system requirements documents in order to provide systems design documents. The requirements included packet switching number processing for call setup; provide transparency of an X.25 address, packet switching MMI and processing transparency in a network. I provided high level designs to software engineers for them to code. I managed the testing of the developed software. I provided system testing services to client sites in Shanghai, China.
Result
All projects were completed successfully and included in latest releases of the PABX.
Meaning
This was the first project that I led a team of engineers. As team leader, I took responsibility for the design and testing of the software produced.
