2002 Introduction of Test Director into the testing process for the real-time ATC simulation facility
Background
The integration prior to the EAT project was done on an ad-hoc basis based on legacy documentation that was never updated. There was no defined processes for testing. It was recognised by management that the integration function had greatly improved the reliability of software used in Simulations performed at the EEC. The simulations involved up to 40 Controllers and 40 pilots using a simulation facility for a period of up to 4 weeks. Therefore it was imperative that the simulation facility remained reliable. HP Quality Center (formerly Test Director) was selected as tool to help improve the testing process.
Challenge
Learn test director and port existing test plans into test director and design new plans so that a full suite of tests available to test the real-time facility
Actions
Work out a process for using test director.
Link User Requirements into the test processes
Manage test campaign with test director
Provide results of test campaign with defined KPI’s
Result
Successfully introduced Test Director into the testing process.
Meaning
I was able to introduce formal methods into project environment.
