Starting January 2025, Academia Sinica launched a new attendance management system called WebITR. All contract-based employees—including postdocs and support scientists—are required to use this system for clocking in and out.
There are two ways to clock in and out:
ID Card: Tap your Academia Sinica ID card on the machine (located on the 1st and 11th floors).
Online: Use the WebITR online system to register your attendance. You need to use VPN to access the webpage.
You must clock in between 8:00 am to 11:00 am.
You must clock out after a 8-hour working duration, meaning 9 hours after your clock-in time (including a 1-hour break).
You may modify your clock-in/out records up to 12 times per year (per modification, not per day) via WebITR.
Leave requests and domestic travel requests must be submitted through the WebITR system.
Overseas travel must still be requested through the ASIAA internal webpage.
If you're combining an overseas business trip with personal travel, you do not need to apply for leave via WebITR. The AS overseas travel system will automatically sync approved records into WebITR.
Morning Leave
Leave of absence in the morning: If an employee takes leave in the morning, the flexible check-in time will not apply. The check-in time will revert to the normal working hours of 10:30 am to 7:30 pm. When an employee is on leave in the morning, the leave period will be calculated from 10:30 am. If the employee fails to arrive at work by 11:00 am, the entire time from 10:30 am will be counted as leave.
For example, if an employee clocks in at 11:31 am, they will need to take 2 hours of leave (10:30 am - 12:30 pm); if they clock in at 12:45 pm, they will need to take 3 hours of leave (10:30 am - 1:30 pm).
Half-day leave in the morning: Employees taking half-day leave in the morning must clock in at 3:30 pm (no flexible time) and clock out at 7:30 pm.
Employees may request up to 12 forgotten time card punches per year (proof required).
In summary, for a morning leave, the leave application should indicate starting from 10:30 am.
The working hours are
Morning: 10:30 am to 2:30 pm
Break time: 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm
Afternoon: 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm
So if applying for 2-hour morning leave, the period should be 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.
* The English version of WebITR has been available since mid-June 2025.
