The Humane Algorithm project is intriguing, as much for its title as the content and ideas in there. I co-published an article with a bunch of other scholars in the Journal ‘Big Data and Society’ in 2017 on ‘Algorithmic Governance: Developing a Research Agenda Through The Power Of Collective Intelligence’, based on a conference at NUI Galway in 2016 (https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/2053951717726554). I’d suggest it’s worth a look. Much of this I think relates back to Weberian analyses of power relations. Foucault can help. Many of the ideas seem to overlap with the Humane Algorithm project.
