Syllabus

This class is a one-term class consisting of four lessons, each with a corresponding assignment and extra credit. Each assignment is worth 30 points and will consist of short answer, true or false, multiple choice, and fill-in-the-blanks questions as well as word scrambles. The extra credit is also worth 30 points and will consist of two options, typically a research question and an application question.

There is also an optional term project worth 30 points. Lastly, there is a final exam, which needs to be completed in order to earn a quill. It is also worth 30 points. You will therefore have the opportunity to earn up to 300 points from this class.

Late Assignments

All assignments and extra credits will be due on the last day of the corresponding month. Should you need an extension, please send an email to hol.signlanguages@gmail.com before the due date. Points will be taken off for late assignments.

Quill Requirements

In order to earn a quill for this class, you need to earn at least 120 points and submit the final exam.

There are 3 awards for this class, which have been named after people who made significant contributions to the field of sign language linguistics:

The Liddell and Johnson Award is given to the top points earners from each House.

The Sandler Award is given to those who impress me with their work.

The Stokoe Award is given to those who complete the term project.
