This is the British Mark I at the Battle of the Somme:
The production of Little Willie in 1915 revealled several technical problems. The British immediately began work on an improved tank.
The Mark I started service in August 1916, and was first used in action on September 1916 during the Battle of Flers-Courcelette.
It was the first vehicle to be named "tank".
