Spent half hour this morning (Dec 15) speaking about the Disney-Fox merger proposal, and how it affects competition in entertainment content, bundling and distribution. Potential competition between Disney-Fox vs. Netflix, all the other players in direct to consumer entertainment, competition between the content firms and distributors, and how this would be affected by the elimination of net neutrality. Netflix's strength in data analytics which helps them provide a better consumer experience, and Disney's strength in monetizing consumers not just by selling them content but by using content viewing as a base to build a market to whom they can sell toys, clothing, theme parks etc. Audio file in about a week.
