Hi, I'm Ts. Dr. Hazriq Izzuan Jaafar

PROFILE 

Ts. Dr. Hazriq Izzuan Jaafar was born in Ipoh Perak, Malaysia. He is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Electrical Technology and Engineering, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM). He received his Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical), Master of Engineering (Electrical - Mechatronics and Automatic Control) and Ph.D degrees in Electrical Engineering (Control System) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2008, 2013 and 2019, respectively. Interestingly, his Ph.D Thesis (Model Reference Command Shaping for Control of a Multimode Double-Pendulum Overhead Crane) was selected as the Best Thesis Award 2021.  

As a lecturer, he has more than 8 years of teaching experience in the area of Control Engineering. The courses include Applied System Modelling and Simulation for Masters level, and Control System Engineering for Undergraduate and Diploma level. He was the Head of Department (1 May 2015 - 21 August 2016) and the Deputy Dean-Student Development (1 August 2020 - 14 September 2023) of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, UTeM. Currently, he is the Manager of Center for Robotics and Industrial Automation (1 November 2023 - present) at the Smart Manufacturing Technology Centre, UTeM.

Since 2013, he has headed 4 research projects and secured a total funding (including as co-research projects) worth over RM1 million. He has authored and co-authored over 80 papers in various conference proceedings and technical journals. Dr. Hazriq is a senior member of IEEE Control Systems Society (No: 92470916) and member of Malaysian Simulation Society (No: 0032).  In addition, he has successfully received a competency certificate of Real Time Control Design and Simulation for Industry 4.0 by SIRIM in 2020. Since 2021, he has been appointed as the Associate Editor of Applications of Modelling and Simulation. His main research interests are Control Systems Engineering, Cranes, System Modelling, PID Control and Particle Swarm Optimization.
