Our Ministries

Children and Youth Ministry

We also try to reach out to children and youth throughout the community durng the year through  special programs such as Trunk or Treat and the Easter Egg Hunt.

Our Fathers' Place

Our Fathers' Place is a ministry led by members of the church for people with special needs.  Each Sunday there is a brief church service held for them at the chapel of Asbury United Methodist Church.

2nd Harvest Mobile Food Pantry

Working with the 2nd Harvest of East Tennessee, the first Wednesday of every month the church hosts a 2nd Harvest Mobile Food Pantry where anyone in the community is invited to bring a box and an ID and receive groceries from 2nd Harvest and often some additional supplies from the church.

Greene County Food Bank

The church also supports the Greene County Food Bank. The 1st Sunday of each month is Food Bank Sunday and everybody brings their collection as they come up to take communion.

Greene County Thanksgiving Meal Outreach

We also provide leadership, food and volunteers to the Greene County Thanksgiving Outreach, which is a ministry of Hardins Chapel and many other churches in Greene County to provide a hot meal on Thanksgiving to anyone who requests one.

Ringing the Bells for the Food Bank

Church members enjoy ringing the bells at Wal-Mart to collect donations for the Greene County Food Bank.  Our usual days are the Friday after Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve and we also help the Hardins Ruritan and anyone else with their days if needed.

Women of Faith and Fellowship

The Women of Faith and Fellowship (WFF) meet on the 3rd Monday of the month.  They have a program and are active in planning fundraising activities so that they can give the money back to their community and to the world at large through a variety of monetary contributions and other types of giving such as fruit baskets to the shut-ins, providing funeral meals for church families, taking gift bags to the nursing homes, and taking supplies to the Humane Society.

Angels on the Altar

The church also supports the Gifts for Kids program by adopting angels that have been placed on the altar.  These angels have ages printed on them and are either boy or girl angels.  Those adopting them buy a gift appropriate for that sex and age and bring it back to the church to be taken to Gifts for Kids.
