St. Nicholas - Treat Bags

Post date: Nov 29, 2020 8:38:4 PM

Treat bags have been given out for as long as anybody can remember and longer than that.

This is the year that everything has changed, including those who plan, finance, pick up and pass out the treat bags all being in isolation and quarantine.

Those of us left noted that a lot of our traditions have been changing and becoming more of reaching out activities and we decided that treat will be the same this year.

This year we’ll be making treat bags much like the UMW Thanksgiving bags. We’ll pick up and hope that our virtual church also pick up snacks and other small goodies and then we’ll make bags for the children and young people associated and loosely associated with the church.

There’s about 40 of these that we’ll be delivering to if they’re not here to them up on the 20th.

The ages ranges are Toddler - 6; Younger Class - 6; Older Class - 8; Teens and Twentish - 18

We’re calling the St. Nicholas project because for the most part these are not people attending church, participating in our activities or supporting us financially.

We’re not doing this because they care about the church or us, we’re doing this because we care about them, just as St. Nicholas called us to be people who freely give without concern for what we’re getting back.

The collection center is in front of the pulpit on undecorated tables, because as we’ve been learning about bringing order from chaos in Sunday School, the only way that things get ordered or better is if we make them so.

We can certainly use from donations or financial help from those who are still in isolation to pull this off.
