These two pictures were found among the belongings of George and Olga Soenke, and sent to me by Karen Soenke. She referred to them as tintypes. This technology was used mainly in the period from 1860 to 1880. Please see the Soenke page for details on the Soenke family.
This young man looks about 20, give or take a few. Judging by the style of dress and the type of picture, my wild guess puts it around 1870 or so. Thus we are looking for someone related to George or Olga, born around 1840 to 1860.
This woman may be about 50, and if the two pictures were taken at about the same time, she would have been born around 1810 to 1830.
