Morphology: Light greyish brown in color. Form varies from encrusting base to tubular. Tubes may reach 2-3cm hight and 5mm diameter. Soft compressible texture.
Distribution: Uh oh. WoRMS says New England, Europe. Interesting since our historical data sites it.
Habitat: Marine, intertidal and subtidal benthic organism. Attaches to mollusk shells, pilings, rocks, etc.
Life History: Asexual gemmule overwintering stage. Hatch into new sponges in spring. Larvae appear in October.
