Gretna Middle School’s vocal music department strives to provide a welcoming environment for all students to experience, learn, and appreciate music through a variety of opportunities.
All 6th and 7th graders take one trimester of Music Class. Performance dates for this class:
1st Trimester Concert - Tuesday, November 3, 2026
2nd Trimester Concert - Monday, February 8, 2027
3rd Trimester Concert - Tuesday, May 11, 2027
At the end of their 7th grade year, students can suggest what elective classes they would like to take during their 8th grade year. 8th grade music electives include:
Since music classes are only a small part of the school year, students are encouraged to participate in one or more extracurricular choirs at GMS:

Every year, GMS 8th grade music and drama students are invited to attend a touring Broadway production! This year's Broadway trip will be to see The Phantom of the Opera at the Orpheum Theater in Omaha on Friday, February 26, 2027 at 7:30pm.
Permission forms will be distributed in the fall.
