(Hamburg, 1978-80; revival: Switzerland: 1989; US 2011)
Gail Osowski (voc, g),
Gregor Heinrich (voc, g)
One day I was playing instrumental guitar in a subway station, just to check how many “donations” one would receive without singing. An American woman passed by and asked if I knew the one or other song. She gave an example, I played along, and bingo, a passer-by put a relatively large donation into the hat.
That`s how a good period began, playing as a duo that clogged Hamburg’s pedestrian zones - because Gail’s voice carried also without a microphone. In fact, it made us a regular act in in the Hamburg music-bar scene.
That is where some of Gregor’s original songs such as "Help me babe" was first performed, a song that also figured in the set-list of Blues Priority, was recorded on the CD "So long", and was part of the repertoire of "Work in Progress - WiP". But most G+G numbers were old US songs from the 40’s and 50s, from "Heartaches by the number", "Mansion on the Hill" to "Memphis, Tennessee" and "Folsom Prison Blues".
We performed in places such as Hamburg (Germany), Grand Forks (USA), Locarno (Switzerland). Soundengineer at existing recordings: Bernd Orlowski.

(After G+G, Grail recorded an LP with Eckhart Kahlhofer and Sinti musicians, that had also some radioplay in the US (eg the song "North Dakota"); she has been back in the US now for many years where she works as a teacher.)
