CANOEING AND OUTDOOR LEADERSHIP
Develop your lake and river skills, or go beyond with guiding, instructor, playboating or rescue skills.
Pursue your passion for nature, fishing, photography or birding with a flat or moving water guided trip.
Courses are moving ahead for the fall of 2022. It has been a busy season! Covid is still affecting some trips but safety protocols are high and outdoor trips can be run with low risk.
This fall's canoeing programs start in late August with
"Teach the Columbia" for outdoor educators. See Wildsight.ca for details.
Followed by a Moving Water course on the St Mary/Kootenay R on Sept 10/11. See www.bccanoe.com for more details.
Then either a Lakewater Instructor course or a Tripping course in Nelson/Castlegar (still working on that!). This will be held one of the last 2 weeks of September.
Late September things really get going with the Kimberley Selkirk High Outdoor Program 3 day Tripping course.
Lakewater Training for Mt Baker High Outdoor Program to prepare for a 3 day trip.
College of the Rockies ATBO Program, Day Guide certification in mid October (6 days).
And to finish off the year, the Mt Baker High 3 day tripping course on Columbia or Whiteswan Lk.
For those wanting to come on these trips to mentor as certified RCABC Leaders, Instructors and Instructor Trainers, please contact me and I'll try to make an opportunity available.
For those wanting to book some training, contact me to set up 2023 courses or guiding.

Aq'am Youth Leadership mentors and participants at Revelstoke Lake, July 2019.
I was very honoured to receive this Sturgeon Nose Canoe from the Aq'am Band while doing some canoe training on Revelstoke Lake. It is one of the coolest gifts I've ever received, from a wonderful group of people. The canoe is made from White Pine bark, Bitter Cherry bark and Cedar root, by Wayne Louie of Yaqan Nukiy (Creston). Check out his website at www.sturgeon-nose-creations.com for some great history, photos and videos.
