Fish

The fishery in Grays lake is managed. From 2000 through 2012, approximately 300 northern pike each year of approximately 9" in length are stocked in the lake. In only 2011 were no fish stocked.

The following fish were caught during a DNR fish survey on 5/3/2012. List includes the relative abundance of each fish caught during the survey, the species and the minimum to maximum fish size in inches.

38% Largemouth bass (5-18")

32% Bluegill (2-7")*

1% Pumpkinseed sunfish (4-6")

3% Yellow bass (4-12")

1% Yellow perch (5-8")

1% Northern pike (21-32")

1% Yellow bullhead (10-13")

14% Carp (22-25")

1% Golden shiner (8-9")

7% Bluntnose minnow (2-4")

1% Brook silverside (4")

*Note that the percentage of bluegill reported here is less than actual. The percentage here is only from the fish that were retained during the survey.
