I am a scientist who changed career paths and reinvented myself as a science communicator. I love to combine all aspects of science, research, and education in my role as a communicator. I studied biology in Mexico and then moved to France for my graduate education. I obtained a master's degree in human genetics, then changed fields and got a PhD in astrobiology. In 2004, I came to the University of Washington in Seattle, where I performed scientific research in the field of meteoritics for ten years and taught a course in the UW Honors Program. What I have enjoyed most about my education and research experiences is their multidisciplinary focus. Although I am trained in biology, I have had multiple research projects that involved organic and analytical chemistry, geology, evolution, planetary sciences, and astronomy. The Honors course I taught was geared toward a broad audience of undergraduates. Having sampled so many different disciplines and professional experiences makes me feel very confident when writing and communicating any aspect of science to a variety of audiences.
In addition to my non-fiction writing, I also enjoy writing fiction. I have written both in Spanish and English short stories that were published in several online magazines.
I hope you will enjoy my writing!
