Making a Simple One-room Map
OK, you're ready to play with the editor...you've set it up and shut it down (needed for changes to take effect)
Open Hammer again and click on File/New in the top left corner of the editor and a window split into four parts should appear...
Click on the square as circled in the picture to maximize this window
To make life easier, next click on the word "camera" in the top-left quarter and select "3D Textured".
This will allow you to see your map as you build it with the help of a camera (covered in a bit)
Next click once on the little grid with the minus sign just above the "camera" to make the grid squares 32x32...
Easier to work with than the default size
Now we need to select (left-click) the tool to make our floor, walls, & ceiling
Move the mouse over the top-right quarter (top, plan-view) and hold down the left mouse button
while dragging the mouse to make a 1024x1024 square...you can resize it as you would a picture
in an image editing program by clicking along the middle of a side and dragging it out or in
When you have it the right size alter the thickness of the floor in the bottom right quarter to one unit
When you hit the enter or the return key on your keyboard the floor will be made and will appear red in the editor.
Select the arrow tool (top-left of the editor) and click an empty place in the grid to unselect the new brush
