Welcome to GFWC Philaco Woman's Club of Apalachicola, Inc.

GFWC Florida History:

The Florida Federation of Women's Clubs was formed on February 21, 1895 in Green Cove Springs, Florida. On January 25, 1898 we were admitted into membership in the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC). Early Florida Clubwomen working together tackled enormous jobs, including the founding and operation of libraries throughout the state. Children were the heart of much of their work. The Clubwomen petitioned for laws against child labor and for compulsory education. Their love for conservation led to the formation of Royal Palm Park that later became a part of the Everglades National Park. This tradition of service and volunteerism continues throughout our communities and to others worldwide. For more information, visit: http://www.GFWCFlorida.org
