On May 9th, 2024 I became the "proud" owner of a "smart" meter. I didn't ask for it, they just "pushed" it into my stomach. Democracy, you know...
This section contains information about DSMR (Dutch Smart Meter Requirements, also used in Belgium as the protocol provided through the P1 meter) and OBIS (Object Identification System).
I don't have a lot of experience yet as of this writing (August, 2025) but I hope my knowlegde about the smart meters is about to gain a positive momentum soon!
Obis codes
Obis codes
Obis (Object Identification System) codes are codes that are used by the telegrams sent out by the P1 meter. A telegram is a sequence of information that contains lots of information about the electricity and gas (if present) currently consumed or produced.
