Once introduced as the ESP8266 the chip manufacturer has ever since developed really powerful chips.
While the EsP8266 was still a "simple" chipset (only one core, running at 166MHz) they nowadays have multiple core, 32 bit versions available.
This section wants to give information about how to build something on one of those chips.
While there are already a zillion tutorials somewhere "out there" I'm gonna concentrate on the ESP-IDF framework from Espressif itself.
ESP stands for ESPressif while IDF stands for IoT Development Framework.
As of this writing, the framework version is 5.5.1.
