TANAKA, Nobuo, IEA executive director: "While natural gas is the cleanest fossil fuel, it is still a fossil fuel. Its increased use could muscle out low-carbon fuels such as renewables and nuclear"

Nobuo Tanaka is executive director of the International Energy Agency (IEA) which in its own words: “The IEA is an autonomous organisation which works to ensure reliable, affordable and clean energy for its 28 member countries and beyond. The IEA's four main areas of focus are: energy security, economic development, environmental awareness, and engagement worldwide” (see: http://www.iea.org/aboutus/ ).

Nobuo Tanaka, executive director of the IEA to a press conference in London (2011): "While natural gas is the cleanest fossil fuel, it is still a fossil fuel. Its increased use could muscle out low-carbon fuels such as renewables and nuclear, particularly in the wake of Fukushima. An expansion of gas use alone is no panacea for climate change." [1].
