Mr. William “Billy” K. Asis Mr. Asis has served as the Gaffney High School Director of Bands since 2013. In his short term here at Gaffney High School, the band has grown in both quality and quantity. At nearly 140 members strong, the Band of Gold has performed throughout North and South Carolina and has even made an appearance to represent the state of South Carolina in the 2014 National Memorial Parade held in Washington, D.C. Before coming to Gaffney High School, Mr. Asis was the band director at Bessemer City Middle School and the Assistant Marching Band Director at Forestview High School. His musical teaching background also includes instructing at East Gaston High School, South Point High School, and Mt. Tabor High School. Mr. Asis is a graduate of Appalachian State University where he earned a Bachelor’s of Instrumental Music Education degree. While at Appalachian State he was a member of the Marching Mountaineers, the Appalachian State Symphonic Band and the Tuba and Euphonium Ensemble. His professional affiliations are with the National Association for Music Education, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and the North Carolina Teaching Fellows.
Mr. Asis currently lives in Shelby, NC with his wife Katherine, their daughter Sadie, and their highly energetic chocolate lab, Dakota.
