Motivation & Objectives
- In energy conversion devices, a hybrid fuel of methane (NH4) and hydrogen (H2) has been considered to improve efficiency and reduce pollutant formation.
- Although there are several previous studies on hybrid fuel of NH4 and H2, few previous studies considered background conditions of a high pressure and temperature existing in IC engines.
- Large eddy simulation (LES) can describe the fluctuation of flow field which is important in mixing and flame stability of turbulent diffusion flame more accurately than a Retnolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) model.
- Two objectives are in this research
: To investigate the effects of background pressure and temperature on the flame stability and pollutant formation using LES
: To analyze the effects of hydrogen addition in high pressure and temperature conditions compared to the standard condition.
