Geo, lunar and planetary magnetism Lab.

Our aim is to understand the origin and evolution history of the Earth, Moon and planets in our Solar system based on magnetic fields. Our research interest is summarized in the following.

1. Dynamo process in the core

We study magnetic field generation processes and its secular variation in the core of the planet using high performance computing.

2. Origin of the lunar crustal magnetic field

We study how the lunar crust acquired the magnetization using magnetometer data obtained by lunar orbiters Kaguya and LP.

3. Exploration of solar system bodies

We study interior dynamics of Mercury, Moon, Ganymede, Europa, and also Enceladus using numerical modeling and analyzing magnetometer data.
