DC-3 Enhanced
The best part of "Fate Is The Hunter" is the one about 'flying the line', especially before the outbreak of the war. Replicating the tension and challenge to arrive on time regardless of weather at an altitude that does very much put the aircraft in danger of colliding with hills and mountains is an intriguing prospect for every flight simmer. Since book is also a basic love declaration to the Douglas DC-3 and its ability to carry two dozen passengers safely and reliably from origin to destination, no matter the amount of ice on the wings, rain leaking through the windshield and rough landings.
Fixing up the FSX default DC-3 to replicate this experience was not enough as the exterior model posesses a fuselage that made making repaints difficult. To shorten development time, the (further enhanced) VC was merged with the "Awesome 4 Some" model package which includes new, properly mapped fuselages in three variations (freighter, large windows, skis). The model changes were combined with better flight dynamics, a custom sound set and systems enhancements, the latter coded to real DC-3 specifications.
The package is not quite feature-complete yet, since - time and motivation permitting - I plan to include engine wear and failures, either through a RealEngine implementation of my own code and cold weather effects on the airframe.
If you're more interested in the military equivalent of the DC-3, the C-47, check out the MJJV C-47.

Four fuselage variations (passenger, Viewmaster, freighter and LC-47) including repaints from the "Awesome 4 Some" package, courtesy of Jon Murchison and James Eden
Virtual cockpit made from the FSX default DC-3 with low-polygon cabin
Optional single-piece windscreen, as found on a lot of post-war DC-3s
Animated windshield rain effects and working wipers
Realistic hydraulic system modeled after the real DC-3, including emergency hand pump
Realistic cowl flap, landing gear and flap operation
Realistic, automatic mixture handling
Realistic prop pitch handling, including feathering
Realistic startup procedure
Realistic fuel tank configurations are possible

As usual, read the manual and look for some more real DC-3 checklists. You'll need them!
