Teaching

Below I list the courses that I am presently teaching or taught (unless specified at Uppsala University). Previous teaching experience include lectures at University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada, Göteborg University and Linköping University in Sweden.

2017-present: Bioscience: Trigonometry chapter in Uppsala (from 2018), and project work at Klubban Biological Station, 6 days. Course admins Tobias Jakobsson and Ulf Lindh. 30-40 students

2016-present: Biology A: Patterns and Processes. I teach the Ecology section and statistics. Course admin Ronny Alexandersson. 15-20 students.

2016-present: Floristics and Faunistic summer course 5hp, section on fish. Lectures (3 h) and laboratory exercise (2 h). around 80-100 students. Course admin Frank Johansson (2016-2019), Per Alström (2019-).

2016-present: Course administrator and teacher with Tobias Jakobsson and Ulf Lindh on Quantitative Biology, 5 hp. (undergraduate level in Swedish). Lectures, computer exercises in mathematics and statistics using R (as well as Python 2018-2023, Maxima 2018), and seminars. Typically about 60-80 students.

2016-2021: Biological debate. 5 hp evening course in Swedish. Lecture (30 min) and role playing (1 h) on an ethical subject (Genetically modified salmon). 15 students. Course admin: Laura Parducci.  

2016-2017: Course administrator 2016 and teacher 2017 for Natural Science and Science Education. Lectures on Sustainable development. 2 students (2016) and 3 students (2017)

2015-2018: Coordinator for individual courses 5-30 hp in literature projects, research training and project work for undergraduate and master students in biology, applied biotechnology, bioinformatics and engineering in molecular biotechnology. 

2016: Course administrator for Science and Technology for primary school, years 4-6. Teaching: Excursions focusing on changes in ecology over the year incl. 3 day overnight at the Erken Laboratory field station. 9 students (2016)

2015: Introduction to Molecular Biotechnology 5 hp. Lectures (4 h), individual writing assignments, and exercises. Course admin: Margareta Krabbe. 60 students 2015

2014-2016: Genetically modified organisms (graduate course in English at the Swedish Agricultural University in Uppsala). Lecture (2 h). 18 students 2014, 7 in 2015. Course admin: Jens Sundström.

2014- 2016: Biodiversity - Patterns and Processes 5 hp (undergraduate level in Swedish), Course administrator 2014 including lectures (5 h) and project writing (12 students). 60 students. In 2015 lecturer (2h) and ethical seminars (4h), project writing (6 h). 58 students in 2015. 

2012-2016: Ecology and Population Genetics 15 hp (undergraduate level in Swedish t Uppsala University). Lectures (20 h), statistics exercises (12 h) seminars (6 h), and field trips (20 days). 70-90 students. Course admin: Håkan Rydin.

2011-2016: Ecological Methods 15 hp (master level in English at Uppsala University). Lecture (2 h), exercise (1 h) and case study (1 h). 15-22 students. Course admin: Anders Ödeen.

2015 Biological Statistics 5 hp (undergraduate level in Swedish at the Ecology program, Campus Gotland, Uppsala University). Lectures (10 h) on Gotland and via video link (4 h). 14 students. Course admin: Anders Nissling.

2011: Exit from postgraduate studies (information for students looking for work after their dissertation, in English at Uppsala University). Lecture (20 min). 45 students. Course admin: Peter Eklöv
