18) 02/20/2011 Under-hood 12 volt wiring

Wired the Soliton1 controller and the rest of the 12 volt system in the front. Sorry I failed to get any "before" photos, but you can imagine the proverbial "explosion in a spaghetti factory" metaphor. With all the wiring captured into split accordion tubing, we have a very tidy appearance with no loose bits to chafe or wear through.

Connections for the controller include 12 volt power and ground, throttle potentiometer, tach sensor, brake cutoff, reverse, and error indicator. Still need to wire in the motor heat switch.

Tach sensor and motor heat switch wires encased in protective sleeves.

All wiring branches join into a single large bundle that passes though the firewall.

Connectors for turn signals and headlamps near the flasher and firewall pass-through.

Fuse block for flasher, brake lights, and horn. Would you believe these are the only three circuits fused in the original 1960 wiring harness?

Auxiliary battery and DC/DC converter in place. I selected a small AGM battery intended for motorcycles, ATVs and snowmobiles because it's small, light, maintenance free, and can be mounted in any position.

Battery tray positioned on platform framework.

Front traction battery pack in place for clearance check with hood.
