Our beginners level sessions are a bit quieter than our team environment, however we still make use of our whole training space and allocated time.
Flyball sessions are structured will all follow the same basic schedule; from 11:15am our training area opens to beginners for self-directed, on-lead conditioning. At 11:30am, we do a warm up drill together. This is followed by one-on-one boxwork, self-directed conditioning and recall work. We do another drill together before finishing up at 12:30pm. Beginner level handlers are asked to assist with equipment pack up.
It often takes flyball dogs two years or more to train to competition level. Flyball is a complex chain of behaviours that we need the dog to complete under many conditions. We always set dogs up for success with their learning, so it can feel like training takes forever.
We say this upfront so to encourage you, as the handler, to perservere and enjoy the journey fully. There is no pressure on our beginner dogs to reach competition level, our instructors only endevour for you to have fun with your dog.
