Easy way to test different Linux distros

Some day I was googling around, looking for a suitable Linux Distro, because my Windows System was broken from Windows Updates. (Not the first time that happened, sadly.) Well, going to another operating system is mostly a big step and choosing the right one is important.

But how to decide which one? Just from articles reading and picture watching is just like buying a car without test driving before, right?
