A New Name, the Same Heart – Welcome to Peggy’s Pool
For decades, the Foresthill Pool has been more than a place to swim—it’s been a place to learn, to laugh, and to come together as a community. Today, we’re proud to announce a new name that reflects the heart and soul behind it all:
Peggy’s Pool. Named in honor of Margaret E. “Peggy” Wilson, the woman whose vision, generosity, and determination made this pool possible.
Back in the 1960s, swimming in Foresthill meant braving the American River—where accidents and tragedies were all too common. Peggy, a local businesswoman with a big heart, believed our community deserved better. She rallied volunteers and inspired donations to build a safe beautiful pool right here in town.
In the summer of 1969, the pool opened its gates. For more than 50 years, Peggy didn’t just give us a pool—she poured her time and energy into keeping it open for every child, family, and neighbor.
Peggy’s dedication didn’t stop when the pool was built. She knew it would take ongoing effort to operate and maintain it, so she organized a team of volunteers to fundraise year after year. She personally led those efforts for decades—often stepping in with her own funds when donations fell short. Her final legacy gift ensures that the pool she built will continue to serve our community for generations to come.
We honor her by putting her name where it belongs—on the pool she loved and protected for over half a century.
Now it’s our turn to carry on her work.
Every donation to the Foresthill Swimming and Recreation Corporation is a gift of safety, health, and joy for our community. Let’s keep Peggy’s dream alive.
