They moved about 1913 to the Sushwap lake area were Emile became the postmaster and storekeeper for the Arrow Lakes Lumber Company. In about 1916 they came to Forest Grove and were brought in from the 100 Mile House by Lester McNeil. Their homestead was 2 ½ miles down the road from Forest Grove where they had applied for 720 acres, a section and a half. Part of this property was on Ruth Lake, part on Lucille Lake and the rest around Becker Lake. The property was later owned by Ray Devore.

Emile Becker established the first store in Forest Grove. There is one original building left on the property which may have been part of the first store.
