Forest Glen Condo. Assn. follows Tribal, City, State & Federal COVID-19 guidance. Please wear a mask in common areas to protect your neighbors.
For local weather forecasts, please see NOAA National Weather Service Juneau forecaster's webpage.
When the weather turns windy, snowy, or frigid, please keep the following in mind:
Snow and Ice
The city is responsible for David Street, but not our parking lot.
Our parking lot is private, so city crews do not maintain it. Instead, our condo dues pay for a contractor to plow the pavement, drop sand, and salt. The contractor can only plow parking spots when vehicles have been moved.
The contractor starts responding after 2" of snow or during icing events. Because nature follows no schedule there is no ETA on plowing. In very heavy snow it may take longer for the plow to visit us.
When it snows, please move your car frequently so the plow can clear the parking lot completely.
Walkways are shoveled/de-iced through our agreement with M&M Services. Ice melt and shovels are placed in stairs wells for residents to use as needed in the event that weather conditions deteriorate before M&M crews are able to reach our building.
Please be considerate of your neighbors: Do not shovel snow into someone else's parking spot nor into the walkways. Instead, move the snow into the main parking lot to make it easier for the plow to remove.
Below Freezing Temperature
Consider leaving a tiny trickle of water running from your faucet to protect pipes from freezing (also see Plumbing).
The elevator is heated to meet maintenance requirements.
The elevator does not operate reliably if temperatures drop below freezing.
Please protect the elevator from the elements by keeping the elevator lobby doors closed.
If the elevator is not working, please call Forest Glen's Property Manager.
There is an emergency phone in the elevator, but often our property manager can resolve the issue (without the elevator technician visiting).
High Wind Warnings
Please secure any items, like lightweight furniture, on your balconies and patios to prevent fly-aways.
It may be necessary to use a latch to secure your door (the handle alone might not be strong enough).
