I am a Clinical Psychologist, working in forensic settings. I completed my first degree in psychology in 2002 and the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Bangor University in 2008. I work for the NHS; both in a Medium Secure Psychiatric Unit and in an out-patient community service that provides assessment and intervention for male and female patients who have committed violent and sexual offences and who may also be experiencing mental health problems.
I provide a range of individual psychological therapies and group interventions aimed at improving mental health and reducing the risk of re-offending. This includes the development of a new multi-dimensional sex offending programme and working with the non-offending female partners of men who have sexually offended against children. I teach at Liverpool and Nottingham Universities and present at national conferences.
I specialise in schema therapy and its application to offending behaviours and have particular interest and experience in working with complex and difficult to engage clients, personality disorders, psychosis and trauma.
