Caring for male forensic patients in a low secure setting

My presentation will include a brief summary of my professional biography, the history of the development of secure services in England, and a brief look at the contrast between modern concepts of medium and low security. I will present a description of Chadwick Lodge and in particular the ward where I have the care of 14 male patients in Low Secure conditions. I will describe the therapeutic opportunities available for the patients, the context and importance of the multi-disciplinary team, and a discussion of areas where there may be service gaps, or deficiencies. I will talk about why some patients become long-term and chronic, and will say a little about risk assessment and management.
