While every prevention and safety precaution is being taken to keep this a safe activity, participation could lead to serious injury or illness that can have lasting or permanent consequences including death. Participants assume responsibility for their time decorating floats and liability for the consequences thereof.
An inherent risk of exposure to contagious illness, including Covid, exists in any public place where people are present. Covid is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and those with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable.
By participating in Float Decorating, each participant or guardian of minor participants voluntarily assumes all risks related to exposure to all contagious illnesses, including Covid.
We are doing all we can to minimize the risk of any illness affecting all decorators, staff, clients, and guests during float decoration. All participants will be expected to contribute to optimizing safety.

If you are ill with ANY illness, please stay home. If you have Covid, or have been exposed to someone with Covid, you are expected to refrain from coming to Float Decorating for any reason. The CDC requires you to isolate for a minimum of 5 days after a positive test. The latest CDC Guidelines for quarantine can be found here. Anyone who has had any symptoms consistent with a Covid infection in the 5 full days prior to their shift should test NEGATIVE before coming to Float Decorating. Free tests can be obtained on the United States Postal Service website.
Face Coverings are Optional in Los Angeles County at this time. Last year many people told us that while the masks are inconvenient, their experience decorating floats was improved because the masks reduced their allergy reactions to the materials we use to build and decorate. You are welcome to, and encouraged, to wear a face covering while indoors.
Each person, or guardian of a minor, must understand that by participating there is a risk of possible exposure to illnesses including the coronavirus that causes Covid. By participating you are agreeing to release all organizers of this activity from fault and responsibility if any participant becomes ill from participation.
