On providing a welcoming and inviting environment for those who face unique challenges.

Our task is unique and presents some scenarios that require able bodies to complete. That does not mean that we are not also taking extra effort to make all people feel included and that they can participate. The following are some of the ways we are making paths to ensure that all participants feel included.

• We will do our best to meet or exceed all ADA requirements.

• If you have participants that are non hearing, instructions can be provided in writing with advance notice. (We have to create the documents specific for the daily tasks) Hearing is not required for participation.

• If you have participants that are persons with limited or no sight we have a list of necessary tasks that can be set up and we can hand them materials that are arranged in a way that will provide them a chance to participate in activities that are the exact same activity that will be completed by some volunteers with sight. Sight is not required for participation.

• If you have a mobility challenge, we offer walkways in most areas that accommodate wheelchairs, ECVs, crutches, walkers, and other mobility devices. We also ensure that there is an ADA compliant restroom that is larger to accommodate the extra space needed.

• If you have participants with cognitive disabilities, special requests for shorter shifts or reasonable accommodations to meet the needs of the individual can be made with advance notice. We will do our best to accommodate within our ability. We do ask that if the guest is in need of a small ratio group (1 to 1 or similar) that you bring individuals who can assist.

• We do have specific challenge with service animals as the facility where the floats are built may not always be safe for the animal. It is an active construction site. And decoration materials may be toxic to the animal. If you or someone in your group has a service animal, please contact us before bringing that animal to ensure that the tasks of the day are safe for the animal and the handler. If the animal can not be present for safety reasons, we will do our best to provide an alternative accommodation that meets the needs of the individual so that they can participate equal to all other participants. We are all animal lovers and want to ensure safety for all-2 or 4 legged.
