At CHIME, we are not bound to a single curriculum, text or instructional material. In fact, we are open to research many different models and approaches to best teach our students. As a team, we develop and create lessons and activities based on the standards set by California, The Common Core State Standards, as well as the abilities of the students in our classes. Our teacher-created curriculum allows creative, open-ended activities and allows for differentiation to be embedded in our classrooms each and every day.
Language Arts
With leading-edge digital tools and results-driven instruction, Journeys Common Core is a K–6 reading program with rigorous Common Core instructional design. The remarkable vocabulary instruction builds better readers and writers while also providing intervention for struggling students. Easy organization, proven instruction and exceptional differentiation set Journeys Common Core apart as the Common Core reading curriculum of choice for educators across the nation.
Fundations
As a recognized leader in multisensory, structured language programs, Wilson brings more than a decade of systematic and explicit instruction to the K-3 classroom. Based on the Wilson Reading System® principles, Wilson Fundations® provides research-based materials and strategies essential to a comprehensive reading, spelling, and handwriting program.
Wilson Fundations makes learning to read fun while laying the groundwork for life-long literacy. Students in grades K-3 receive a systematic program in critical foundational skills, emphasizing:
Daily 5
Daily 5 is a literacy framework that instills behaviors of independence, creates a classroom of highly engaged readers, writers, and learners, and provides teachers with time and structure to meet diverse student needs. Because it holds no curricular content, it can be used to meet any school, district, state, or national standards. Daily 5 classrooms produce productive, highly engaged students who develop a true love of literacy.
During Daily 5, students select from five authentic reading and writing choices, working independently toward personalized goals, while the teacher meets individual needs through whole-group and small-group instruction, as well as one-on-one conferring.
Math
California GO Math! (K–6) completely engages students with the California Common Core Standards and Practices through a write-in student edition. Lessons begin with problem-based situations and then build to more abstract challenges. All along the way, students use multiple models, manipulatives, quick pictures and symbols to build mathematical understandings.
Science and Social Studies
Our science and social studies curriculum are teacher created based on the California Content Standards and follow the NGSS and C3 Framework. We teach about the community by making our very own complete with jobs and a mayor. We also teach about plants and animals by making rain forests in our classrooms! These subject areas are hands-on and engaging for all students.
