Free Dawn-to-Dusk Light Bulb Program
The Federal Hill South Neighborhood Association (FHSNA) has been awarded a grant from the South Baltimore Gateway Partnership (SBGP) to help increase neighborhood safety through improved outdoor lighting. Through this grant, FHSNA has purchased 300 dawn-to-dusk light bulbs that will be distributed free of charge to eligible residents.
Who qualifies for a free dawn-to-dusk light bulb?
Any resident who lives within the FHSNA boundaries—Light Street, Cross Street, Covington Street, and Fort Avenue—is eligible to receive a free light bulb.
To verify residency, please provide one of the following:
A valid Residential Parking Permit Area 19 parking pass
A utility bill or other official document showing your current address
A driver's license with your current address
How do the light bulbs work?
After installing the bulb in your outdoor light fixture, turn the light switch on and leave it on. The bulb contains a built-in sensor that automatically turns the light on at dusk and off at dawn.
How many light bulbs can I receive?
Each household is eligible to receive one (1) free dawn-to-dusk light bulb while supplies last.
Where can I pick up my free light bulb?
FHSNA will host two distribution events. The first distribution event will be held during a community happy hour on July 24 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the St. Ignatius Blacktop, where 150 light bulbs will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. The second distribution event is planned for the fall, with the date, time, and location to be announced.
What if I cannot attend the distribution events?
Additional distribution opportunities may be announced if supplies remain available. Please watch FHSNA communications for updates.
