Coach B, a native of Franklin, began his coaching career here at Franklin High in the late 60's and early 70's. During those years he served as the Head Basketball(see below), Head Baseball and Assistant Football coach. Coach B changed careers and, along with his four daughters, developed a strong interest in a rapidly growing sport- Soccer!
He began coaching soccer in the WCSA recreation league. In 1979 he was instrumental in organizing the first recreation league just for girls. In 1980, he began coaching one of the first girl's travel teams in Williamson County.
Coach B joined the Lady Rebels in 1996 as Assistant Coach, and has been Head Coach since 1997. Since that time, he has compiled a win% record of 75%. With the 1-0 win against Brentwood in the 2006 District Semi Finals, he set the record for most all time wins in girl's soccer as well as most State Tournament appearances at Franklin High.
Under his leadership, the Lady Rebels have advanced to the TSSAA State Tournament 12 times, with 7 State Championship games; (winning champion titles in 2000,2002, 2003, and 2011); four runner-up titles in 1999, 2001, 2009, and 2010; two semi-final appearancew in 2008 and 2013, and two quarter-final appearances in 2006 and 2007. Sixty+ of his players have continued their soccer careers at the college level. In 2003, Coach Burchett was named National Coach of the Year by both ESPN/Powerade and the adidas National Federation of High Schools. In 2011, Coach Burchett's team maintained a perfect season going 24-0-0, winning the State Championship, and being ranked the #1 team in the country by the National Soccer Coaches Athletic Association, who also named as one of the National Coaches of the Year , representing the Southern Region.
Coach B was recognized with his 200th Career win following the Riverdale win on 9/3/2009.
