The first part of the class is an overview of current topics in metaethics.

2016-17: Current Topics in Metaphysics


The first part of the class goes through Williamson's Modal Logic As Metaphysics, with a preliminary overview of Quantified Modal Logic and Modal Model Theory.

The second part of the class deals with certain topics in mereology, supervenience, and higher-order metaphysics. Given at Collegio Borromeo, University of Pavia. [syllabus] [lecture notes]


2014-15: Modality: Linguistics, Logic, Philosophy


This class introduces modality as dealt with in logic, linguistics (not just formal semantics) and in certain quarters of philosophy. Deontic modals are used as a case in point.
