Thomas Carter - Director

Thomas Carter was born on 17th July 1953 in Austin Texas and Studied at Texas State University. He is a writer, producer and actor but his main profession is directing.

Throughout his 40 plus year career he has directed many popular U.S. TV Shows including: “Hill Street Blues”, “St Elsewhere”, “Miami Vice”, “Remington Steel”, “A Year in the Life (with Morgan Stevens), “Nashville” and “New Amsterdam” to name just a few.

He has also directed films such as “Save The Last Dance and “Coach Carter”.

To date his directing has won him 3 Emmys, 1 Black Movie award and 1 Directors Guild of America Award.

On Fame he was one of the first directors to come on board when the TV Series first went into production in 1981.

He directed three Season One episodes:

He was also involved in directing the new scenes that were filmed to insert into the pilot.
