Dash Across California!
Dash Across America!
Dash Across America!
Our schools walked so much in our virtual dash through California that we reached all five destination National Parks in three days! We are now on next challenge: Dash Across America!
Students will take as many walks as they can (10+ minutes of continuous walking) and submit their steps for each walk. We will add up each school's daily steps and track our progress on this page.
Remember to clip pedometer to waistband close to your belly button!

We wrapped up the last day of our adventure together by walking an impressive 1,454,840 steps past Voyageurs in Minnesota and Isle Royale in northern Michigan.
After spending the last 7 days walking 14,409,469 steps combined (the equivalent of 5,764 miles), the Flyers and the Eagles decided to fly back home to Pleasanton for the warm and sunny weather.
We're so glad you joined us on our trip and look forward to future adventures!
Today we walked 1,177,749 steps and we should be at Voyageurs early tomorrow. Brrr, is it cold! The overnight temperature will go down to -7 degrees F!
Tomorrow's the last day of our journey and we're looking forward to seeing how far we can get!
A cold day to visit Yellowstone in Wyoming (only 16 degrees F), but the snow is beautiful! We took a picture with some bison near the hot springs.
After continuing east through Wyoming, we arrived at Wind Cave in South Dakota where we decided to rest for the night. 1,611,700 steps today!
Tomorrow: onto Voyageurs in Minnesota!
The Flyers and Eagles started on a new combined challenge today: Dash Across America!
Leaving from Lassen Volcanic, the two schools headed up north to visit Crater Lake in Oregon and then made their way east, spending the night in Idaho after 2,149,040 steps together. Almost to Yellowstone in Wyoming!
Today, both the Eagles and the Flyers arrived at Lassen Volcanic National Park!
The Eagles reached Lassen first, hitting the milestone of 3,350,000 combined total steps over three days, and continued to explore the National Park on several hikes. The Flyers arrived at Lassen not long afterwards with their 3,350,000 combined total steps to join the Eagles on a hike and to set up camp together for the night.
Congratulations Mohr Eagles for being the first to reach our fifth and final California National Park! Awesome job to both schools for all the fantastic walking!
But we're not done yet...Eagles and Flyers, because California is not big enough for your mighty walking feet, we have a new challenge for you!
We will now combine our steps to walk together across the U.S. headed to Acadia National Park in Maine! It's 3,500 miles away - that's 8,750,000 steps away! - and we need both Flyers and Eagles to soar together!
We've completed California; it's time to Dash Across America!
Another amazing day of walking! The Flyers began to catch up to the Eagles in the morning, as both schools approached Joshua Tree. But after passing Joshua Tree, the Eagles gathered steam and pulled ahead, heading west towards Channel Islands.
The Eagles sailed past Channel Islands and led the journey north to Lassen Volcanic (+1,375,000 steps), completing the day with a total of 1,655,279 steps. The Flyers reached Channel Islands and began heading north, finishing the day with a total of 1,628,620 steps.
Keep up the great work Flyers and Eagles!
An unbelievable first day! Fairlands Flyers walked 642,000 steps while the Mohr Eagles flew past with a stunning 960,313 steps!
Both schools soared through Yosemite (325,000 steps) and Sequoia (+300,000 steps). Flyers set up camp just south of Sequoia, while the Eagles made it almost halfway to Joshua Tree before settling down for the night.
We clearly need a new destination after Joshua Tree and will head west to Channel Islands!
Remember to clip your pedometer to your waistband near your belly button. (It needs to stay in an upright position close to the center of your body and may not work properly in your hand, on your wrist or shoe, etc.)
Tomorrow, the Mohr Eagles and Fairlands Flyers are setting out from Pleasanton and starting their dash across California!

Total Steps: 3,781,268
